Good Morning!

Today is Mother’s Day! Thanks to two of the greatest people I know in my life, I get to open little “happies” from my kiddos this morning!

My best friend and her husband wrote me daily inspirational notes to read each morning, and they have meant the world to me and gotten me through many tough mental days! It seems to give m e just the boost I need when I’m feeling lonely.

Today’s notes were something extra special because my boys drew me cards for Mother’s Day.

I woke up early and said goodbye to Grand Staircase. I drove an hour to Bryce Canyon Nation Park. I decided to hike the Peek-a-Boo Trail upon recommendation and it was definitely a winner! I also did couple other smaller hikes and loved every minute; although I thought I may die at one point! The switchbacks of Bryce canyon ain’t no joke people! be warned!

This place is other-worldy and my pictures do not, in any way, do it justice. I swear the animals in the park even pose for pictures….it’s crazy..and magical.

After it all, I lost my car. It took a hot min to find it in the massive parking lot that was full of families and people. The most people I’ve seen ALL WEEK! But you know what else I found close to my car??? SHOWERS!!!! Whoo Hoo!

Bryce has a huge general store with all kinds of “happies”…(coffee) and showers! I was so excited to finally have a “real shower after 4 days!! While I washed all of Utah off my body, I also threw some laundry in the machines just because…why not?! I felt like a new woman!

Then I gathered up my things and headed towards my next stop….the famous ZION National Park!

It was so important that I be close to Zion as possible, and I wasn’t able to find BLM free camping early enough before dark….just for safety, I chose to stay at a campground right outside of the parks East Entrance. You can camp inside Zion, but they book up about 1 year in advance, and I didn’t have that much notice for this road trip!

The campground is nice, with wi-fi, showers and a game room. it’s very pretty too and was a perfect location for my needs and planned hikes. If you are in the area here’s their site, Hi Road Camp. Check them out., for campsites, they are $$. A little pricey for my shoestring travel budget, but definitely worth it for the convenience!

p.s. they are very close to the East Messa trailhead for Observation Point Hike….don’t make the mistakes I did in Zion!
