It’s no secret that travel trends change from year to year! During the pandemic we saw a huge shift in RV renters and family vacations that kept families close together but separated from the general public. This next year I predict people will be getting back into more traditional travel with hotels and flights, maybe even venturing to more countries! I’ve taken the time to research travel trends for you and put together my predictions of where travel will take us in 2024!
- RVing will continue to be a primary adventure for families and groups because of the affordability and experience. In 2024, people will appreciate the ability to explore on their own, as well as enjoy the connection that RVing and camping offers. The comforts of home with you at all times and the freedom to move from place to place!
Mental Health will continue to be a focus for people for 2024 and RVing has plenty to offer travelers with that in mind. Getting out in nature is proven to combat stress, build resiliency and fight depression! Pull up, spread out and take in a breath of fresh air…soak up some vitamin D from the sunshine and improve your sleep by getting your body back into it’s natural rest rhythm…I’m pretty sure in 2024, we will see that people are tired of needing a vacation from their Vacations!!
2) Glamping is definitely a top contender for 2024 travel trends. Families, couples, solo travelers and friends seek out experiences over cookie-cutter travel after the life changing experiences from the pandemic. You’ll likely see the need for connection to each other and the outdoors as people seek hotel-like amenities within nature focused settings! Think Yurts, Treehouses, Tiny Homes and anything that provides a unique adventure!
Be sure to book your stays earlier than normal during 2024, as I’m finding that most people are booking as much as 250 days before their trips to make sure they cash in on the unique stay experiences!
3) Water!! Who doesn’t love their feet in the sand and the sounds of waves and water as they relax and get back in touch with nature? There are so many reason travelers will seek out stays near water. Escape the scorching summer temperatures, enjoy the relaxing sound of water and water sure does keep the kids busy while we enjoy some much need “adult’ relaxation time! Be prepared for any outdoor adventure near water to be at the top of many 2024 travelers list.
4) Last minute trips! The younger population travel a bit differently than the older crowds. They are preferring the adventure and spontaneity of last minute travel in 2024 because of its adventure and unpredictability. Finding great deals can be done if you keep your dates flexible and options open. One of my favorite things to do is using Going to find my trips for me! They send great last min deals and will even suggest a surprise place for you to explore…if spontaneity and adventure is on your to-do list for 2024
Look for the best deals from September to May if you can keep your options open! 2024 will see most travelers between Memorial Day and Labor Day, so if you can stay away from those you’ll score the best deals and experience less crowds.
5) Lower Gas Prices! Whoo Hoo! This made me so happy when the EIA predicted that in 2024, gas prices would decrease! They obviously can’t predict the future for sure, but indicators show that oil demand will drop next year to drive a price decrease! Maybe it’s all the electric cars or new fuel standards…but either way I’m here for it!
As well as gas prices hopefully coming down, experts are predicting inflation will stay in check for 2024. That means that even though we saw a huge increase in Hotel nightly rates in 2022 and 2023, (as much as 53%) it shouldn’t change much in the New Year.
Travelers are seeing a steady price for camper van and RV renting, and when traveling to more remote places, the costs of food and activities remains relatively low. This is great news for the outdoor traveler in 2024
Hopefully these predictions will help you plan your 2024 adventure a little better! So don’t wait. Get ready to see what all the new year brings and buckle up for more adventures and experiences heading your way! Let me know if I can help.
